Sancharika Samuha (Forum of Women Journalists and Communicators) has been publishing a monthly "Sancharika Features Service" since 1997. The main purpose of this publication is to encourage journalists to write in-depth articles, especially about gender-based violence. At present, five such articles are published every month in the Sancharika Features Service. This publication is distributed to more than 300 media organizations throughout the country via e-mail, wherever possible, and posted or delivered to other places. Many papers, including broadsheet dailies from Kathmandu, give considerable importance to the Sancharika Features Service and publish the articles in their papers.
Realizing that many of the journalists who write for this Features Service are male, Sancharika Samuha, from July 2006 to 2008, published its monthly feature service with the articles written by female journalists only. Since then female journalists and writers from around all five different regions are highly encouraged and motivated to write and send their feature stories on varieties of issues. However, at present the feature service constitutes of articles written by both male and female journalists.
