Laws to check voilence against women urged

Participants of an interaction programme organised by Sancharika Samuha here recently stressed the need of clear legal provisions concerning violence against women.
Dr Arzu Rana Deuba said women who are victims of domestic violence are themselves neglected by society. Therefore, there i sa need of strong legal provisions.
Additional Inspector General of Police Krishna Mohan Shrestha said a total fo 677 incidents of domestic violence have been registered with the police during the last fiscal year and this is 62 per cent more than the previous year. He also stressed the need of legal provisions to control domestic violence.
Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Babu Ram Regmi, journalist Govind Adhikari and chairperson of the Samuha also stressed the need for strong legal provisions and awareness generation to end domestic violence.
