11th Anniversary and Annual General Meeting

Sancharika Samuha - a forum of women journalists in Nepal , celebrated its 11 th Anniversary and Annual General Assemble on 27 th July 2007 in Kathmandu . The honorary chief guest for the progamme was Minister of Information and Communication Hon'ble Krishna Bahadur Mahara. Other dignities invited in the program were Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communication Shanker Prasad Koirala, President of Press Council Nepal, Vice President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Vice President of Press Chautari and many other representing media organizations including senior journalists, reporters, representatives from I/NGos and diplomatic agencies.

On the occasion Chief Guest Hon'ble Minister Mahara launched a booklet titled 'Media and Elections' translated by Sancharika Samuha. A Canadian Journalist wrote the book.

On the same occasion he also presented Sancharika Equality Award to journalist Rameshwor Bohara for his outstanding feature story of the year 2063. The award also comprises of 15 thousand cash. Rameshwor Bohara is working as reporter for Rajdhani daily from Banke, Nepalgunj. Sancharika Samuha established Sancharika Equality Award from the year 2000 (2057 B.S).

Likewise, Minister Mahara also presented Sancharika Encouraging Award to Ms. Ranjana Poudel and Ms. Sita Adhikari. Ms. Ranjana Poudel is working as reporter in Star FM and Ms. Sita Adhikari is working as stringer reporter from Dhading for Gorphatra daily and Image Channel. This Encouraging Award for the female journalists was established in the year 2005 (2062 B.S).
